Program

Convenes an annual conference to advance education and research in the psychosocial aspects of spinal cord injury and provides a forum for participants to expand their knowledge, explore new dimensions, and reaffirm their commitment to spinal cord injury care.Provides Continuing Education Units for social workers and psychologists and ensures that the program meets certification requirements facilitates interchange among other professional associations.

  • Reviews information on diagnostic, curative, and rehabilitative techniques pertaining to psychosocial methods.
  • Assesses advances in the management of individuals with spinal cord injury and presents data on new developments in psychosocial assessment and treatment.
  • Identifies research deficiencies and methods for meeting research priorities.
  • Improves the practice skills of psychologists and social workers working in the field of SCI.
  • Explores the spectrum of issues that affect SCI care and increases the body of knowledge about spinal cord injury and its complications.
  • Promotes professional networking among social workers, psychologists, and other health care professionals.
  • Promotes public education about spinal cord injury.
  • Develops strategies to increase the public visibility of the Association.
