Membership
Psychosocial management of individuals with spinal cord impairment (SCI) is an expanding field, which encompasses many components of specialized care.
Psychologists and social workers working in this field of health care recognized the need to engage in the professional exchange of knowledge and experiences, from which the individual with SCI can ultimately benefit. Incorporated in 1986, the American Association of Spinal Cord Injury Psychologists and Social Workers (AASCIPSW) is an organization fulfilling these communication and educational functions.
The American Association of Spinal Cord Injury Psychologists and Social Workers operates exclusively for scientific and educational purposes to advance, foster, encourage, promote, and improve the psychosocial care and management of persons with SCI; and to recognize psychologists and social workers whose professional careers are devoted to the challenges of SCI management.
AASCIPSW is recognized and certified by the Internal Revenue Service as an organization meeting the requirements of a 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions or donations to the Association are tax deductible.
