  • Identifies the community of psychologists and social workers providing direct patient care in the field of spinal cord injury, informs them of the goals and purposes of the Association, periodically reviews membership requirements and make recommendations to the Board of Directors, and responds to membership concerns.
  • Works with the administrative office and Board of Directors to ensure that membership categories are appropriate.
  • Encourages membership of DVA and private sector psychologists and social workers working in SCI.
  • As necessary, reviews membership applications and makes recommendations to the administrative office.
  • Assists the administrative office in developing the membership directory.
  • Periodically reviews membership demographics and informs the Board of changes and implications.
  • Maintains an awards program to recognize individuals who have made contributions to the psychosocial aspects of spinal cord injury.
  • Solicits and evaluates nominees and selects (when appropriate) a nominee for the Essie Morgan Excellence Award, the Distinguished Service Award, and the Clinical Performance Award.
  • Promotes public education about spinal cord injury.
